Commercial Reroofing FAQs

Is Lightning Protection Required by Code?
Lightning protection systems are not typically required by national building codes; however, they are increasingly being included in design specifications to enhance building resilience to natural disasters. By electing not to protect your facility, you may be liable for damages or injuries. At the very least, you leave your critical assets and operations vulnerable to downtime or destruction.
Can Roofing Contractors Remove and Reinstall Lightning Protection?
Many elements of the reroofing process require supervision by qualified lightning protection specialists like AC Lightning of Michigan. Our team has undergone extensive training and certification testing to become Lighting Protection Institute (LPI) certified Master Designer/Inspectors and Master Installers. Without these credentials, any contractor attempting to remove or reinstall a system could damage or create vulnerabilities in the system.
